Providing for Everyone's NeedsLocal Government/Organizations Arco is governed by a Mayor and City Council while Butte County is managed by an elected Board of County Commissioners. The Lost River Library and Hospital are supported locally and each has its own Board of Directors. The Butte County Sheriff is responsible for law enforcement in both the county and the city of Arco. Volunteers serve as Emergency Medical Technicians and Fire Department members. A Business Incubation Center (BIC) encourages new businesses and rural development. Local Schools School District 111 oversees the operation of all Butte County Schools including two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. The school district is managed by a local School Board and School Superintendent. Besides classroom instruction, a wide range of academic and sports activities are also provided.
